When KDE is newly installed, Konqueror's window contains a Menubar, a Toolbar, a Locationbar and possibly a Bookmarkbar.
Maybe you don't need all these bars. To hide one of them, go in Settings->"Show whateveryouwant" and uncheck its box. To show a hidden bar, just check the box.
On the left hand end of each bar you can see some vertical lines. By left clicking on them, you "flatten" the bar, meaning that it is hidden but can be quickly restored by clicking on the now horizontal lines.
You can also drag the bars and make them float by dragging these lines.
If you right click on the Toolbar or Bookmarkbar, you will get a menu to configure this bar. You can choose the orientation, text position and icon size
Once you have arranged things to your liking, Settings->Save Options will make the new arrangement permanent.
![]() | If you hide the Menubar, you won't be able to access the Settings menu! To restore it, right click on the view and check "Show Menubar". |
The icons shown in the various bars can be changed by using the Menubar Settings->Configure->Toolbars option, which brings up the "Configure Toolbars" Dialog Box which lets you change the icons in
The Main Toolbar (Konqueror). Actually this is the left hand part of the Toolbar, up to and including the Stop icon.
The locationToolBar (Konqueror). There's not really much point in changing this.
The bookmarkToolBar (Konqueror). You can add an icon to the Bookmarkbar if you wish to, but ordinary bookmarks should be added with the Bookmarks->Add Bookmark option.
The Main Toolbar (khtmlpart). This normally contains the Increase and Decrease Font Sizes and Security icons that are only displayed when Konqueror is in Browser mode.
Note that you can rearrange the position of buttons in the Toolbar by clicking on the up and down arrow buttons.
